SCG Regionals, and holy cow THE PRO TOUR!

So, as some of you may know this weekend is Pro-Tour: Origins. As the past couple of weekends have shown on the SCG Circuit the Standard format can be pretty open. We saw the raw power of G/R devo opening Weekend with Origins, and this past weekend it was new brew Abzan Rally take the cup home. I'm betting some of the pro's were considering playing some sort of Rally the Ancestors brew, since the card can be pretty busted.

I've personally been working on something for the Modern format with the card, and it's an article I keep going back to and working on when I have a thought about what will be good in the deck, and I'll publish it once I have the kinks worked out, but I promise it'll be my most in depth brew yet, nothing for fun or anything of the sort with the deck, I promise it'll be competitive.

Anyway, what sort of stuff will the pro's be working on? I know that Huey Jensen and team Pantheon are already in Vancouver testing and practicing.

For those of us who can't compete in the Pro-Tour SCG puts on Regional tournaments "SCG Regional Championship" this time around, and the event is being held 2 hours away in Syracuse, NY. In the very same city they held the SCG NY Open, and I can't wait. While I was brewing and figuring out what the hell I can play I went all in on the worst deck to win anything... W/u Heroic. Ugh.

I could do Bant Heroic, but that would mean me borrowing Dramoka's Command and some Windswept Heath's, and eh.... I figure the two color version will be easier on my life total, and the more in-tune version, much like U/R Delver was the king when Treasure Cruise was allowed.

All in all there's quite a few of us going from We Got Game, and hopefully we wont all go 0-3 drop, maybe even yours trule can do 1-2 drop, haha, we'll see.

Though, I did have a recent conversation with someone who basically told me I shouldn't be so resulted oriented, and I'm beginning to think he's right. Either way, I'm going with friends and I'm going to be playing the greatest game in the world, so why can't I go and just have some fun and who cares how I do? If I top 8, fucking fantastic! If I 0-3 drop, well then I'll know not to go all in on a shitty heroic strategy again.

And honestly after this tournament I'm probably going to be going in on the Abzan Rally deck, the only thing that'll hurt is the Deathmist Raptors.... eeeeegh, they're some pricey cards, I also might go a little more on the combo than the current build is because Nantucko Husk is a pretty sweet Magic card, and if you're playing a graveyard strategy you might as well be running Den Protector and Deathmist Raptor.

Though, honestly... I really want to break the card for modern, and not have the Melira combo in it. I'm thinking maybe something with Elves and Shaman of the Pack in a Dredge shell? I don't know, that's something I'm working on for a totally different blog post that'll be coming in the next day or two... I promise.
